In leeren Fabrikshallen muss aktuelle Kunst gezeigt werden,jung, kompromisslos, radikal. Steyr hätte das räumliche Potenzial dazu. In ganz Österreich gibt es keinen mit der Kunsthalle.tmpSteyr annähernd vergleichbaren Ausstellungsraum. Das ganze Gebäude als Ort der Kunst, als städtisches Zentrum kreativer Innovation mit Langzeit wirkung im Bereich der Imagepflege und wenn man das will, auch als touristische Attraktion. Die Über zeugungsarbeit in den städtischen Gremien steht noch aus, der nur wenig veränderte Duft der Provinz ist beim Lesen des in diesem Buch abgedruckten Stücks von Johann Nestroy wahrnehmbar. Die soziolo gischen Komponenten der Verlage rung und Dezentralisierung künst lerischer Tätigkeit und Präsentation in den letzten Jahren und die da rauf bezogenen Veränderungen im Kunstfeld hat Kurt Kladler in seinem Essay zu dieser Publikation sehr fein aufbereitet. Er spricht in Zusammen hang mit der Kunsthalle.tmp Steyr von „einem eigenen Produktions kontext, in dem spezifische Leistun gen erbracht werden und der selbst das Ergebnis von formenden Kräften im internationalen Kunstgeschehen ist." Für unser Programm gab es Zu stimmung und Lob von allen Seiten, in Interviews wurde immer wieder die Bedeutung der Kunsthalle für die Stadt hervorgehoben.Trotzdem konnte eine nachhaltige Störung dieses spezifischen Produktionsbe reichs aktueller Kunst nicht verhin dert werden. Der störende Einbau einer Probebox für eine zukünftige Musikschule wurde in diesem Text bereits erwähnt. There has been approval and praise for our Programmefrom all sides. Time and again,the importance of the Kunsthalle for the town has been emphasised in interviews.
